Introduction to Business Process Management

This one day, in-house workshop, provides managers and their team members with an introduction to Business Process Management. While some of the fundamental principles surrounding process management are not new - they have their origins in the quality movement and BPR - our approach is unique because of the way we incorporate systems thinking.

We see the need to separate processes into business processes and organizational processes. Business processes are focussed on delivering a product or service to customers who are crucial for our continued existence; organizational processes are the drivers of an efficient organization. This is true for all organizations in the public, private and voluntary sectors. And naturally, a process orientation includes a system for continuous improvement.

Improvements in technolgy - web services and process automation - are providing the impetus for this renewed interest in Business Process Management (BPM). We will review the key issues in adopting a Process Orientation in which technolgy is an important enabler but on its own does not necessarily guarantee success. Bringing the benefits of a Process Orientation directly or indirectly to the attention of the top management team in the organization is our purpose.
